The Bogtrotter

About

I’ve enjoyed travelling from a very early age. As a child I was a keen trainspotter and spent many Saturdays on the end of platforms at places such as Crewe and Birmingham, watching the trains go by. My other teenage pleasure was hill-walking, heading off into different parts of the country with a rucksack on my back. I took every opportunity to get out of the house – to see and experience as many places as possible.

No surprise then that after finishing University I have expanded my horizons and have travelled across much of the world. I have been lucky enough to be experience many things over the last few years, and this web site is a collection of some of the best.

There has been a glut of “101 things to do/see/experience before you die” books in recent years. Rather than creating a wish-list (which, to be honest, would be almost endless) this web site is a record of some of the best experiences I’ve had. There is a wide mix of activities reviewed, but a couple of themes keep reappearing. I still love walking, so there are a number of circular and one-day walks. Mrs Bogtrotter is a keen gardener, and we regularly visit some amazing gardens. And we both love food, so there are frequent diversions into culinary highlights we have discovered.

I’m also an enthusiastic photographer, so I have decorated my articles with some of my better pictures. You can see more of my pictures on my Flickr site.

I hope you find my experiences interesting and informative. Feel free to leave comments on the articles, and let me know if you have also tried any of the experiences described in the blog.
